The Five Grades of a Wearing Disc
The L4–5 disc plays through the five Pfirrmann grades on its own: bright and full at grade I, dark and collapsed at grade V. Then take over — set any grade on any level and watch the consequences propagate to disc height, osteophytes, facet joints, ligamentum flavum and the room left for the nerves.
